Roger Cracknell Bio
In my 40 years working as a freelance photographer, I’ve most loved exploring the cultural diversity of people and traditions around the world - often seen at festivals – in far-away places as well as in the UK.
I’ve been fortunate to have traveled extensively on assignments for advertising and for corporate and travel clients.
I have met and photographed people from around the world including musicians, reggae artists and holy men, in locations ranging from Nepal to New Mexico and Jamaica to Greece.
Over the years I have become most well known for my landscape, portrait and architectural photography. My work has been published in a variety of media from travel, hotel and corporate publications to international and national press including: - The Sunday Times, The Telegraph and Conde Naste Magazines.
In the 1970s I took countless photos of Jamaican Reggae Artists after I was commissioned by London-based Greensleeves Records including Reggae Music Legends Jimmy Cliff, Ranking Dread, Clint Eastwood & General Saint, Hugh Mundell, and many others. Much of these are included in the recently-re-published book by Al Newman 'Greensleeves, The First 100 Covers' (see 'Recent Exhibitions' below).
I was also a partner in Commercial Video Production Company Ocean Video for 20 years, creating numerous corporate films for a range of corporations including Foodbrokers, Procter & Gamble, Ferrero and Gillette.
I have amassed a vast collection of imagery, some of which is included on this website. I have also recently begun exhibiting more frequently.
